Lossless audio formats capture every aspect of the music during a sound recording. That means the recordings we provide contain all the detail, all the expression and all the ambience the artist wanted you to hear. The same details and expression that are ignored and flattened by lossy formats such as MP3. Listen and you'll see.
Our recordings are available in three formats. Please remember the better the recording, the larger the file size.
These are the highest quality files available and are identical to the studio master. They work like zip files so the size is compressed but none of the sound quality. iTunes and Windows Media Player don’t accept these files yet but many others do such as VLC or Winamp.
Developed by Apple®, these offer the same CD-quality sound as 16-bit FLAC, but are naturally compatible with iPods® and iTunes®. Choosing this file format means you can enjoy your high-quality music in iTunes or on your iPod with the minimum of fuss - it's just like ripping your own CD.
These files offer the same level of sound quality as a shop-bought CD. They aren’t as large as the 24-bit versions, but are compatible with more software.
If you are unsure if you can play these files, you can download trial tracks to test them before buying a membership.
