The quality of sound is great, like every B&W I have had, and much better than the Bose I had. But as some reviews noted connection issues, I found the same. It connects through Wi-fi and not Bluetooth. So, the connection is only as good as your wi-fi. But, if you use a device, you don't have the device near the speaker. While I have pretty decent if not good wi-fi, the wi-fi at times can have a little connection issues. So, I suffer through it the few times it occurs. So, potential purchasers should be aware of this, and make sure you have good Wi-fi.

Other than reading "Recertified" on the box, the product seemed brand new. Excellent condition.

I don't know if it is my network, but WiFi functionality was horrible as the sound kept cutting out. However as soon as I plugged in the ethernet cable, the issues went away. Luckily Ethernet over power line adapters helped to create a wired connection, as dragging Ethernet cable all over the house was not an option I wanted to explore.

Although AirPlay is very useful, it forced me to convert all my files from FLAC to ALAC (XLD did the trick on a Mac), just so that I could use Apple's AirPlay from iTunes . I would have been nice, if another over the (Ethernet) network connection was available, one that does not lock you in to one vendor (Apple). e.g. Something that would work with other media centres like Kodi.

Just like the wired Ethernet connection the USB connection also worked flawlessly. I have not tried the 3.5 mm connections.

There are multiple ways to connect the speaker, and be aware some will unintentionally get the speaker playing very loud, especially when changing different options (for me it was changing the default sound output on a Mac - Sound Settings. On a Mac, keep System Preferences sound settings to Internal speaker and use iTunes to select the A7.) A volume indicator on the speaker itself would be nice.

B&W 604 S2 vs A7
I've owned a pair of B&W 600 series speaker for fifteen years, and learned they require a lot of power to drive, as they are not very efficient. I always felt the need for more power for the 600s. The A7 is actively powered just right to give the right punch at all volume levels. So the amplification part was never an issue here.

All in all a lot of effort was required to setup the speaker the way I wanted, but it was worth it, and I would still recommend the A7.

Best sound ever - except the airplay playback is not consistent. For the amount I paid for this speaker, it should work perfectly
