Creating the ideal listening experience in an automobile is more challenging than a typical living room. Taking into account the limited space, outside noise, moving and vibrating parts, as well as the design of the interior, radical solutions were needed to create the sound our engineers demand. The new Bowers & Wilkins Jaguar XF Premium Sound System rewrites the rules for how in-car audio systems are developed. Our engineers were involved in the earliest concept stages of the car’s design, working closely with Jaguar with one aim in mind: to create the best sound possible. The result is an audio system with all of the extraordinary richness and clarity associated with Bowers & Wilkins speakers, and none of the compromises associated with in-car audio.
Enthralling sound for all
In traditional in-car audio systems, the quality of sound heard by passengers is often a poor relation to the driver’s listening experience. It’s a very different story in the Jaguar XF. Our premium sound system uses specially designed speaker geometries, Audyssey XT DSP response equalisation, and both Dolby® Pro Logic IIx and DTS Neo 6 surround decoding to ensure that everyone – driver and passengers – enjoys exactly the same stunningly immersive sound quality. The system employs 15 speakers, including rear fill speakers fitted into the rear doors, driven by multiple amplifier channels that can provide 1200 Watts of distortion-free musical power – nearly three times the power of the first generation XF audio amplifier. The system delivers an enthralling surround-sound experience wherever you’re sitting in the car.
Unrivalled drive unit technology
Advanced speaker technology has been a hallmark of Bowers & Wilkins ever since the company obtained the first patent for the use of Kevlar® in its unrivalled high-end speakers, used as standard by the likes of Abbey Road, Skywalker Studios and Deutsche Gramophone. You’ll find the same advanced technology in the premium sound system for the Jaguar XF, but now significantly enhanced by the addition of concentric aluminium dome tweeters in the front centre and rear shelf locations. The system’s total of 15 high-performance drivers includes a rear-mounted high-powered 200mm dual voice-coil subwoofer that provides the low frequency bandwidth necessary for music reproduction truly faithful to the original.

Because the dynamic space of a car interior can challenge even the best audio components available, we decided to pick the best in the business to make sure that the audio components in the Jaguar XF sing in perfect harmony. The system is fine-tuned and calibrated by the same Bowers & Wilkins engineers responsible for tuning the entire range of speakers so ensuring the consistency, that merits the Bowers & Wilkins name.
